Glimpse of HASAB:
HASAB (HIV/AIDS and STD Alliance Bangladesh) is one of the national, leading Non Government Organizations (NGOs)in Bangladesh devoted in the field on HIV/AIDS/STI for the past twelve years. It emerged as a specialized agency in HIV/AIDS & STI field with experience of grant management and capacity building (technical, managerial and administrative) of smaller NGOs, CBOs and Faith based organizations who are involved in prevention & control and care & support of HIV/AIDS.

HASAB was incepted in the year 1994 as one of the linking organizations of International HIV/AIDS Alliance, UK to support the community responses to HIV/AIDS. Over the years it has capacitated itself to work independently and has received a national status as an Independent organization through affiliation with the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh Government on 1st November 1998.

HASAB's core focus, is on HIV/AIDS and STI related issues which entails an wide range of integrative program related to HIV/AIDS with Reproductive Health, Gender, Human Rights and Social Development as cross cutting issues over arching across the high risk and bridging community.

HASAB's credentials include grant management, capacity building of partner NGOs both organizational and technical, to implement HIV interventions, HASAB, as a specialized agency in HIV/AIDS field, is highly rated by partners for its approach and support with sound financial, programme monitoring and evaluation system.

HASAB thrives for a Bangladesh, where all sectors contribute to minimize the risks, spread and impact of HIV/AIDS and other STIs.


Mission
By 2008, HASAB will contribute to reduce the vulnerability of communities for HIV/AIDS and other STIs by inclusive response to the cause and consequences through strategic partnerships.

Organizational Speciality:
HASAB is the only Indigenous organization in HIV/AIDS field in Bangladesh which has long working experience in the field of HIV/AIDS and STI prevention and control programs, in partnership with local community-based NGOs/CBOs /FBOs.

Its another uniqueness is its trifurcated approach of work which has over arching benefits for combating HIV/AIDS as it works like umbrella NGO for accessing resources and capacity building for community responses to HIV/AIDS, does direct implementation for innovative demonstration project, does operation research on HIV/AIDS and also work as Center of Excellence for specialized area on HIV/AIDS with its Training, Information & Communication center.

Over the years, it has gained positive reputation and confidence within the country for Grant management and Capacity Building of NGOs and has also developed similar confidence in working closely with donors, civil society and other developmental NGOs, MOH& SW (Ministry of Health & Social Welfare) and different stakeholders.

HASAB is one of the few NGO's that works with PLHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS) in Bangladesh and has a strong network and close link within this group. HASAB is an apex level representation and strong voice for many grassroots NGOs working on HIV/AIDS field.
