Target Population: Selected seven marginalized communities like, Female Commercial Sex Workers of the brothel, hotel and street, Transgender/hijras, Ex-Injecting Drug Users (IDUs), Male having Sex with Male (MSM) and People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA)

location/area coverage:
Dhaka, Mymensing, Faridpur & Manikgonj districts of Dhaka division of Bangladesh.
Goal: Realization of human rights and dignity of life for selected marginalized communities
Objectives:
• Create awareness and promote understanding on Human Rights for developing
confidence, self-esteem among the selected SHGs.
• Capacity building for organizational development of the selected SHGs.
• Create enabling environment by promoting compassion and understanding
of civil society to respect human rights for the SHGs.
Major Strategy/Approach: Project is working with self help groups of the marginalized communities. In absence of self help groups, initial work is done by with NGOs/CBOs working with those marginalized groups aiming to form their own self help groups. HASAB with more than 12 years working experiences on HIV/AIDS works for organizational capacity building, creating enabling environment and awareness creation through partnership approach with organizations named, Badhan Hijra Sangha, ODPUP/ Setu-Bandhan, Shapla Mohila Sangstha (SMS), Life Development Association (LDA), Shuktara Kallyan Sangstha (SKS), BODAR and Ashar Alo Society (AAS).
Activities:
o Organizational/SHGs Capacity Assessment.
o Extended structured support to the SHGs/NGOs in enhancing organizational capacity
based on Assessment findings
o Baseline survey of seven different populations/groups on the perception and
situation of fundamental human rights, gender and HIV and AIDS
o Promote understanding on Human Rights related issues on the basis of Baseline
findings.
o Form a core group of facilitators comprising of SHGs members to promote understanding
of program issues
o Capacity building of SHGs on the areas of organizational, programmatic and
financial
o Developing different types of module-Human Rights, Gender, HIV and AIDS. Financial
Policy, Personnel Policy, SHGs operational guide line etc.
o Advocacy and Networking at national/policy level for mainstreaming of the
marginalized groups
